Eliran Elkayam was born in 1986 and works from the south of Spain. Something about the silence in his paintings is difficult to explain. His abstract works on canvas and paper carry a depth that is felt before it is understood: warm, unhurried, and somehow at ease with itself, even when colours and textures pull in different directions.

"The best compliment I ever received," he says, "was that I paint like a six-year-old." It is not hard to see why someone would say that. Or why he took it as a compliment.
